Ok, a million things to do. Enough hours of sleep to catch. Where to touch
down after so much flying around. 16 flights and not a cold caught. Sure is
a nice country, America. People everywhere doing their things with their
families, alone, working, eating, driving, sleeping. I just met a whole
whack of 'em and it was an enjoyable tour of the local airwaves. Sure is
something to be home though, back to Canada. Nice to hear the subtle accent
on the plane from Minneapolis. I count my blessings that I made it safely
and successfully through TWENTY states in FOUR weeks. Muchos gracias to my
friends Katrinka Suydam and Paul Langton for being top notch tour guides and
escorts.
My new band are readying to hit the road and we kick things off tomorrow
with a whack of rehearsing.
How do you rehearse to rock n' roll?
-Well that part entails some beer drinking.
The music part will come with some practice...
Firstly, let me introduce the band:
On the keyboards Julie MacDonald
On the guitar Mike O'Neill
On the bass Maury laFoy
On the drums Dean Stone
everybody sings
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very much looking forward to some time on stage with these friends.
(Bios to follow)
All of Our Names, my new album, is coming out March 23rd. She is ready to
come into your homes and stay awhile. The songs are:
1.) Pendulums
2.) Almost
3.) Greeting Card Aisle
4.) New Enemy
5.) Silver Road
6.) Dandelions in Bullet Holes
7.) Things to Forget
8.) Came On lion
9.) Took It All
10.) Tether
11.) Go To Sleep
Maybe you've seen the video for Almost. We shot that in Montreal on a cold
January day. It was my pleasure to work with the French crew and director
Maxime Giroux. (Even though we shot for nearly 24 hours. mon dieu.) Reminds
me that I must send a signed photo to the proprietor of the restaurant we
used; we kicked up a lot of dust in his place. Played Rock For Choice in
Vancouver. Felt the love of the west coast sisterbrotherhood. The East End
Cultural Centre is a lovely and cosy theatre. Hayden joined in with some
harmonica and played a great show the next night.
Things are really good with me except for the shitty pollution that I'm
creating travelling in gas powered cars and airplanes. The excessive amounts
of plastic bottles and garbage we use and then dump everyday, especially
with take out food, it makes makes me uncomfortable. (Must pack a lunch.)
Anyway, must pack it in. Should be a memorable Spring touring with my new
band and Hayden kicking off the shows. Hope some of you can make it to a
show or two. I'll be playing lots throughout the summer and fall also.
We'll try to keep up on it all.
regards and fare well,
sarah
p.s.
I need to get hooked up with an alternative energy vehicle. Hemp bus. Bio
diesel. Vegetable grease diesel? I've been thinking lots about sustainable
living. POWER TO THE PEOPLE AND RESPECT FOR THE PLANET.
